Levitation 2018

Austin, Texas. April 26th-29th

Damn. A dope festival that's been on the back burner for that last few years, & I'm not the only one on the block that's happy to see it's return. Let's muscle past the sappy bits and dive into the meat of it. Man, that really sounded like I had something prolific to say about said festival. Well, either way, I sure as shit enjoined myself. One of the more prominent features of the long weekend was the visual artists who made the stages crawl with the colorful liquid psychedelia that is so synonymous with this genera. A long standing tradition in accompaniment to the freaked out fuzz'd up tones of the 60's  and 70's that paved the way up till present day. Now I'm gettin' all loose n' fluffy again. Brass tacks... Lets' see... Oh fuck, the fucking music. Yeah. Some serious Psych legends were in town preforming, you could feel the city buzzing. Well to be fair it was probably more of the dru... Nope. Nope. Brass tacks. Music... Powerful layers of textured amplitude making your skin crawl into goose pimples and hum till your skull feels like mush. The music felt slowed down a click as if the artists had to struggle against great unseen forces to produce their sound. It methodically churned forward how a surf manipulates the body while a harnessed precision is unleashed in an over exaggerated maneuver like the concentration present when punching in a dream. Christ it was such a great time. I'll include links to the artist photographed.

I was trying something a little different this time. Over exposing the highlights much less (3stops) than normally which is %100 more attention than I've given them in the past. The goal was to create a more moody set of photographs showcasing the visuals. I'm happy with the results and I feel that this signifies a small change in my approach to live music.
