The constant ratcheting sounds of the Cicadas was a consistent part of my trip out to the desert. The sharp droning, square-ish waveform, seemed to make the meat closest to the inside of your skull vibrate until it became numb, beckoning you further into the environment it has turned to dust, further away from your water, further away from yourself to turn you into dust and join them.
